Getting Started with Your iPad
The DOE is lending iPads to students across the city for remote learning. Here you will find information on how to get started with your iPad. School staff and community members can also use this information to help students with connectivity and other troubleshooting issues.
Note: There is no need to call the DOE, 311, or Apple to check the status of your iPad request. Visit the iPad Distribution page for more information.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents, Guardians and Family members of PS 188:
In the last week, we have been presented with a unique task of redirecting our learning to a remote learning platform. The staff has been making every attempt to make this process as clear and smooth as possible. As a parent, we wanted you to know what the instructional day looks like. We have developed an instructional day that is meaningful for all learners.
When we created our schedule we considered that not every child learns in the same way. We have taken into consideration that there are a variety of setups in each scholar's homes. The schedule below is set up to ensure that you have maximized opportunities to engage with every staff member throughout the day. This includes but is not limited to: teachers, paras, related service providers, support staff, and administrators.
We are all here to support you, however, our staff members are not on call 24/7. Staff members will respond to your inquiries within 24 hours. Staff members will continue to work through their normal work hours which includes time for us to eat lunch, plan, and review scholar’s work. Different teachers and related service providers will be available during the instructional block as well.
In order to make this work, you can support us by sharing with our Parent Coordinator, Ms. Vasquez, what is working, challenging, and how we can best support you and your child during this time. Safety for all scholars is still our top priority so please continue to be vigilant in monitoring and supervising your child’s online activity in our Google classrooms and across platforms.
